Jezdci z cel\u00e9ho sv\u011bta se zam\u011b\u0159ili na Formuli Drift jako na celosv\u011btov\u011b popul\u00e1rn\u00ed s\u00e9rii, ve kter\u00e9 se z\u00e1vod\u00ed. Matsuyama m\u011bl v tomto okam\u017eiku tak\u00e9 trochu sm\u016flu, proto\u017ee mu k postupu chyb\u011bla dv\u011b m\u00edsta ( kvalifikuje se v\u017edy 32 jezdc\u016f). Michael Whiddett (nar. 1981), zn\u00e1m\u00fd tak\u00e9 jako &#8222;Mad Mike&#8220;, je novoz\u00e9landsk\u00fd driftov\u00fd z\u00e1vodn\u00edk. Whiddett od sv\u00fdch \u0161esti let z\u00e1vod\u00ed tak\u00e9 v motokrosu a v roce 1997 se um\u00edstil na druh\u00e9m m\u00edst\u011b v novoz\u00e9landsk\u00e9m motokrosov\u00e9m \u0161ampion\u00e1tu Pro Junior 85cc. V sez\u00f3n\u00e1ch 2010, 2015 a 2016 Whiddett z\u00e1vodil ve Spojen\u00fdch st\u00e1tech v z\u00e1vod\u011b Formula Drift a v sez\u00f3n\u011b 2010 byl vyhl\u00e1\u0161en nejlep\u0161\u00edm jezdcem. Z\u00e1vodil tak\u00e9 v s\u00e9ri\u00edch Formula D Asia a Formula D Japan-present. Na\u0161\u00ed prioritou je pokra\u010dovat v budov\u00e1n\u00ed s\u00e9rie zde a z\u00e1rove\u0148 rozv\u00edjet sport driftov\u00e1n\u00ed jako celek,&#8220; \u0159ekl Jim Liaw, prezident a spoluzakladatel Formula Drift. Co se t\u00fd\u010de vozidel Forum Drift, pravidla nejsou zrovna p\u0159\u00edsn\u00e1, pokud jde o v\u00fdb\u011br vozidel jezdc\u016f.
